The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana commonly known as KVPY is an on-going National level Program of Fellowship or scholarship in Basic Sciences which is continued and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The basic objective of this fellowship or scholarship is to attract exceptional and highly motivated students for continuing basic science courses and research career in science. Apart from analyzing and examining students with talent and aptitude for research, this fellowship or scholarship enables them to realize their potential in academic, motivate the candidates to take up research careers in Science and to ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.

Candidates have to apply for the scholarship exam online on www.kvpy.org.in
There are three steps that candidate have to follow to complete the application form successfully which are as-
Step 1 is to Registration
Step 2 is that the candidate has to fill the personal and academic details and choosing test centre and finally uploading the scanned images of photograph, signature and all other certificates which are required for doing so
Step 3 is payment of application fee. The candidates must pay the fee only on the online portal of the official website. This can be done either by using a credit card or debit card or net banking or by downloading the bank challan from the application portal. No other means of payment will be accepted as the mode of fee payment. Once payment of application is successful and the application is submitted there will be no refund of the application fee
For general or OBC category it is Rs.1000
For SC/ST/PWD candidates it is Rs.500
The details for the venue of the exam for the eligible students and their seat number will be published on the official website during second week of October, 2017

There is prescribed syllabus for the KVPY written exam. The written exam aims to test the understanding and analysis of the candidate than this factual knowledge. Candidates are examined for the syllabus up to class 10th or 12th or 1st year of B.SC or BS or B.STAT or INT.MSC or MS as applicable
After the examination of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will appear a written aptitude test which is conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country.
According to the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed candidates will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
Candidates will be short-listed on basis of performance of candidate in aptitude test for appearing the interview which is considered to be final stage of the selection procedure.
